About the person behind MAMACRUMBLES.ORG

Where should I start...Well, I am from the Caribbean, the beautiful islands of Trinidad and Tobago. I moved here as a mere teen with my family about to embark upon what we call the "American Dream". 

I developed the "knack"... If you will, for cooking and baking at the tender age of 8. I'm not sure if it was the happiness of being in the kitchen with my mom; or if it was the joy of learning from the best. I'm convinced, it had to be both. I will forever cherish those moments, and all that I have learned from her. 

From there, I would say she created a little monster. From cooking full family meals to making desserts. As a kid, the thought of making my own desserts, well it was just simply exciting! I enjoyed seeing other people's reactions and the happiness a meal or a little sweet treat brought them. I never stopped. 

Forty plus years later, yes, I have been enjoying the journey for quite a few years. To me it means, I have had a lot of time to tweak my recipes, some good ones, some not so good ones and some great ones! LOTS of trial and error in-between has brought me here. Cooking and baking truly does bring me peace along with the peace of my Lord and Savior.

After starting a family, I realized the impact of the long list of the "not so good" ingredients that are in our food and other products we use daily. I didn't want that for my kids. I'm not saying we don't have that "cheat day" because we really can't avoid it all; but to be honest, it was quite different growing up with fresh, real food all the time. A change was needed. So began our quest to find healthier products and ingredients, to make our lives better. It wasn't an easy journey, and with things changing daily, we continue to grow and learn along with the changes...From a home cooked meal, to baked treats and to living our lives as we see fit.
